You can’t just wake up and talk about how you had an aweful dream and then expect to rank on the first page of google. Maybe in the past, it would be easy, but technology has evolved and many people are taking part in blogging.

As a result of that, there are over 2.1 billion blogs on the internet. This is why you will need help to choose a blogging topic so that you will be able to rank on google. When i first started blogging, i read blogs from Allison Lindstrom, Ryan Robbinson, Yaro Starak, Susie, Pat Flynn, Neil Patel and many others. A niche in blogging helps you to grow, if for example you are focusing on Irrigation equipment, that is a unique topic, you will be able to rank well unlike when you are talking about farming. You should ensure that you do your research about that topic.

The blogging topic shouldn’t always be about things that you know. You can do research to learn more. As long as you are passionate enough about that particular topic, you are good to go. The last tip to know about is that, your blogging topic or niche shouldn’t be too broad when you are getting started, it would be difficult to drive organic traffic with a broad niche. The reason being people focus on sub-niche when they start their blogging career.

Keyword research for blogging

Blogging is one of the concept of digital marketing. For you to make it on the first page of google, you will have to do keyword research. You have to ensure that you use certain tools so that you can find out which keywords are easy to rank well.

You cannot go for SEO keyword, if you want to do well in digital marketing, you need to narrow down your keyword research. I made an example of irrigation equipment. It is true that it is no longer easy to find keywords which do not have no presence at all, but if you start your own blog about a certain topic, you still stand a chance if you do keyword research well.

It doesn’t matter if there are other people out there writing about such topics. The nice thing about blogging is that it gives you a unique voice. What i am trying to say is that, your explanation might be the one that outcompetes other people in the sector where you are focusing on.

My dear friend, don’t be afraid to start your own blog simply because you have no experience in it. When i started EOL site, i had no idea what i was doing, but my persistent is the only thing that opened doors for me. If you work hard to be better, you may as well be an expert.

For you to stand out in the crowd, you need to use certain tools for finding out keywords that don’t have too much competition. If the topic you are targeting has too much competition, my friend, you should run while you still have a chance. Failing which, your sweat will be wasted.

You will get knocked out so many times by google spiders. You won’t even make it to the top 20. This is why you need to use Google Keyword Planner to help you figure which keywords people are typing on google. To find out if the keyword you are targeting has too much competition, you can use ubbersuggest.

Blogging platforms for beginners

If you are going to start a blog, you need to choose as to which platform you will blog on. When i started my first blog, i was blogging on medium, i then shifted to wordpress. If you are just practising, i suggest medium since it doesn’t have many functionality.

Linda Ikeji, a Nigerian blogger started on medium too. As of this writing, she is the most famous woman in Africa in digital marketing. By the moment she has gained a lot of following, she shifted to a self-hosted blog.
