Today I want to talk about scam. Because of this covid-19 pandemic, there is high crime rate out there. People are scamming other people out there. The reason might be that they have lost their jobs, or they are doing this for whatever reasons which we don’t know. But there is high crime rate. It survival of the fittest.
How I became a victim of scam

Sometimes the way life goes on is like a lie. Anyway, I actually had no idea what I was going to present to my readers today, but something tragic happened to me yesterday. I found out that I had been SCAMMED!
This made me realize that I need to warn my readers that there are so many scammers out there, so you better watch out.
Few months ago, somebody promised to give me a well-paying job in return for ransom. For me, this was a once in a life-time opportunity. I did what any other person who wants to change his or her financial life around to gain breakthrough would do.
It was during lockdown, I paid this ransom, that particular person fooled me. When you are desperate, you become blinded by the opportunity beforehand. After paying the ransom, that guy’s phone was unreachable. I tried to enquire about this, but then they gave a lame excuse that the guy went away on some business trip sot there is no network. But I started suspecting that something was up.
Today we went to confront those people where they claimed to be working. You are not going to believe what happened. The names one of those guys gave us, belonged to one the ladies who used to work there. They didn’t use their real names. That is when we realized that we have been scammed! Oh my God, but life happened, I kind of felt that something was not going well.
Now the question lies here, how can you avoid being scammed?

There are many ways in which people can trick you. So my dear reader, please be careful, never ever try to bargain with a person whom you haven’t met. That is the number 1 rule to avoid scam.
Now of late I heard of stories whereby people would ask for mpesa help from strangers only to trick those people. All in all, scams happen in various ways, all we need is be careful.
Ways of avoiding scams
If you are with me on this one, purchase the below t-shirt on Amazon with low costs.
- Don’t bargain with a person over a phone
- Don’t give out money without making sure that particular person works in that particular organization. At least try to collect information regarding such a person.
- Don’t give out money without signing a contract.
- Make sure that you have witnesses
- Ensure that a particular person is known in that particular organization he or she is offering you a job at
- At least have a written side contract which will work as a proof that the particular person swore to whatever agreement you two had
I do believe that this article will help you to avoid being scammed. Unemployment makes us to do things we never thought we could do. You may be foolishly going on and on how no one can scam you. But my dear friend, if you don’t want to be scammed, try to at least do 3 of the above things. By so doing, you will be avoiding risks that can leave you traumatized for a very long period of time.
Now, don’t just read this article, I want to know your thoughts on this subject of scamming. What happened to you? How did you overcome the trauma you experienced after being scammed? I want to write a follow up article on this one concerning how to overcome the trauma scam. Until next time, I will be waiting to hear from you. Ciao!
