6 BUSINESS PRINCIPLES YOU CAN LEARN FROM LESOTHO’S FIRST PROPHET

Ladies and gentlemen i greet you all. I would like to take this moment to compare the business world with a little biography of Lesotho’s first prophet.

For many, many years people have been teaching business philosophies in online seminars, on forums, blogs and on live workshops. Today EOL managed to get a slice of bread from these philosophies.

EOL philosophy however is a bit different; our approach is going to use Chief Prophet Mohlomi principles and teach business principles based on them.

CHIEF MOHLOMI’S BIO

It is estimated that chief Mohlomi was born in 1720. As time progressed, he became a prophet; thus making him the first prophet Lesotho has ever known since in those days, theology was known naught in Lesotho.

MOHLOMI’S FIRST VISION

Chirf Prophet Mohlomi had his first vision in his early years. In his first vision, he saw his dad dead. This was prior his father went for war to fight. He therefore asked his father not to pursue his mission to go to war for he would die if he went ahead with his mission.

MOHLOMI’S SECOND VISION

Every nation has its customs and traditions, Lesotho is of no difference. Basotho nation’s tradition is to initiate their youths. As a young man, Chief Mohlomi undergone through that same tradition. Therefore he went to the initiatin school, that is where he had his second vision.

In his vision, he saw a huge huge bird coming to him when a strong storm was approaching, it flew with him on top of the mountain. On the top, he saw a multitude of dead people; his forefathers or his ancestors. In sesotho we call them “Balimo.”

These forefathers taught him many things which resulted in him having the below principles:

CHIEF MOHLOMI’S PRINCIPLES – How can they be used to grow our business?

PEACE SEEKER AND BE APPROACHABLE

Chief Mohlomi was a peaceful man whereas his father was a man of war. But Chief Mohlomi never agreed to fights. You remember his vision at the mountain, he was taught to be a PEACE SEEKER. How can we relate this to the business world? I am sure this is the question you are asking yourself hey..i can see somebody scratching his head to find an answer.

If you want to grow your business, try by all means to be a peaceful person. Yes its true that even cruel people can have a successful business. But if you are a peaceful person, oh mu God people will love you, if people love you, they are likely to buy from your business over other businesses due to that character of being peaceful.

A smile on your face as an entrepreneur, makes a customer to feel relaxed. As a business person or as a person who is going to open a business one day, try to practise this! It will bring you a huge success. Just smile and work hard, no matter what problems you are facing at home, hey pal, this is a place of trading show a welcoming gesture!

You have to be approachable, let us take King Shaka Zulu, would you have enough courage to go start a business proposition with him? I wouldn’t dare, such a cruel person. This shows that a cruel person doesn’t build good relations when it comes to business.

PATIENCE

Mohlomi became a ruler when he grew up. He was told this in his vision on the mountain. As a chief he had to mediate when his subordinates and or his villagers had disputes. He had a stunning patience, he would listen to what really happend. It is then that he would take action after he thoroughly listened and did some careful thinking.

Now let us delve in business, a business journey isn’t a walk in the park. It has its ups and downs, if you don’t have patience, my dear friend you can leave your business before it flourishes due to lack of patience. Learn to be patient when the business doesn’t make too much profit, there will be time when it hits its peak and takes you to the next level financially. Keep pushing as long as it is a good business.

A TRAVELLER &MARRYIAGES

Chief Mohlomi was a traveller, Southern Africa was a territory where he travelled. He went to places such as Transkei, Zimbabwe etc. One of the main reasons that caused him to travel this much was that he was a traditional healer. Back in those days there were no ancient doctors; white doctors. People used traditional medicine to heal and cure diseases.

One thing that Chief Mohlomi did was wherever he went, he got married. In each and every place he went, he had wives and children. This was one of the lesson he was taughted in his vision. This lesson he taught it to King Moshoeshoe 1, the founder of Basotho nation.

The reason he had so many marriages iwas that, he was cementing the relationships with the people whon he had visited. Therefore this brought tribes and nations together. That was thw main reason he married a wife in particular nation or tribe he visited.

As a business person, build relationships everywhere. Cement them by exchanging business cards or contacts. Don’t just wait for the messiah to come and bring business to you. Be a travellor, go to America if you have to.

I can see someone’s face frowning over there. Haha.. But it is true, the world has now big become a small village. You can get information about country at anytime online.

By so saying, i mean don’t be lazy to read. Read to equip yourself with enough knowledge that will make you a better business person. Most importantly, build business connections just like chief Mohlomi did; be a travellor sitting in your home. Just travel online by reading articles and forums and even e-books.
